fountain of youthHave you been looking or are you looking for that Fountain of Youth— and I’m not talking about the Fountain of Youth “discovered” by Ponce de Leon. Well anyway…if you are looking, rest assured that it’s not hidden and you can drink from that fountain anytime you choose.

You ask where is that fountain…I say that the fountain of youth lies within you– all you have to do is search inside yourself. As the saying goes…you are only as old or as young as you feel or whatever it is that you tell yourself you are.

Do You Feel Like You no Longer Have Any Youth Left…

fountain of youthLet me ask you this–Do you feel as though you no longer have any youth left and that you have now become old and crinkly? Well guess what…YOU ARE WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF YOU ARE!

Now let’s not get this twisted– just because you have gotten older and are now an elder does not mean that you are ‘old and elderly’ and have to act like some ‘old or elderly person’ with a mind-set that goes around telling folks, “well… you know I’m old now and I can’t do what I used to do” or “I can’t do this and I can’t do that” or “you know I’m not young any more– just too old now.” Being an elder is not equivalent to being elderly.

So… you can choose to become self dis-empowered and allow yourself to become old and elderly or… you can simply grow older and honor the status of becoming an elder by maintaining your sharp and inquisitive mind, staying relatively physically fit, with an interest in many things– actually not feeling too much differently than you did 30 years ago.

We Need to Remember…We Are Whatever We Tell Ourselves…

Now let me just say this…You may have disabilities or be seriously impaired– YOU DO NOT GET A PASS! You are not dis-empowered because of disabilities. You are dis-empowered because you have allowed yourself to take on the mind-set of feeling sorry for yourself “poor me why am I still living… I’m crippled– stuck here, old and useless with nothing to offer anyone.”

fountain of youth width=We need to remember we are whatever we tell ourselves we are and we all have choices. Now if you are happy with the way you feel about yourself and don’t see yourself needing to make any changes in your life, I say good for you– I think that’s great! This article is not directed to you. So for everyone else– let’s continue… OK…as I was saying, for those with disabilities, its up to you to change your mind-set and from your wheelchair or wherever you are make the decision to take charge of your existence.

Now ladies, as an Elder you have acquired a lot of wisdom and experience over the years, so instead of hiding it under a bushel and feeling as though you no longer have anything worth while to offer to your family and society, now is the perfect time to fearlessly unleash your inner power to be who you are and do all the things YOU want to do!

The secret to activating that Fountain of Youth is to open up your consciousness. That’s it…that’s all you have to do–consciously change the way you see yourself and others will see you that way too– and if they don’t see you the way you see yourself…SO WHAT!

We Were Told “Stop Being Silly”

Now let’s think back to our childhood, and the way we were– spontaneous, imaginative, curious, fearless, outspoken, sensitive and aware, playing in a land of fantasy. Many of these characteristics became lost with the adults telling us how to think, what to think about, what’s lady-like behavior, etc. And so we grew up in a kind of mold that society expected us to fit into.
We were told “stop being silly,” “you know you’re just being silly” “I don’t know what’s wrong with you” or “why can’t you just be like everybody else…” and so forth and so on. And in our quest to fit in as a “proper adult” we lost our inner child, our silliness and our inner laughter– WE LOST OUR FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH. In fact most of us don’t even realize that it’s lost because we have buried it so deep inside ourselves that we don’t even realize it’s missing or know that we ever had it.

Well ladies if we intend to ever drink from that fountain of youth again, we will have to work on ways to retrieve it. You might start by doing what’s considered “being silly” or doing “silly things” I’m always doing silly things and people like to tell me that I’m silly or being silly. Do I care…? I CERTAINLY DO NOT.

fountain of youth Now there is no right or wrong way to explore the fountain of youth. Discovering your fountain of youth is like exercising and using muscles you haven’t used in years. It’s going to feel awkward and strange at first, but then as you get used to doing them they begin to get easier and easier.

…And so Ladies, if you don’t mind I’m going to share a few things with you about myself– things that I do or have done that keep me in touch with the fountain. I’m sharing these things with you, because I want to make sure that you have a clear understanding of what it is that I’m talking about when I say Drink From The Fountain of Youth!

Haven’t Changed My Stripes Much… Still Sort of a Tomboy

I’m still sort of a tomboy and will sometimes do tomboy things. There was a time when I thought I would like to be a trucker. Then I realized I can’t be a trucker, I don’t have a driver’s license–I don’t even know how to drive LOL…Oh well…

Any way I do enjoy hanging out and working with the fellas. Some of my most memorable times was a few years ago when I did some work with the guys–grabbing a couple of tools I helped mend a fence and later on with the same guys, we hauled logs from the ground into a wheel barrow to transport and stack in another location, while the ladies were indoors cooking.

I’m Used to Being Called Out for Being Silly or Strange…

You know for me drinking from fountain of youth is so part and parcel of me that I don’t even think about it. I’m used to being called out for being silly or strange since my school age years (smile).

fountain of youthSo let’s see… where to start… please bear with me if at times I seem to be rambling, I just don’t want to loose my thought or forget anything. OK…here we go…I like kids, actually kids of all ages including babies. So when I talk with kids though they may see me as an adult, inwardly I become a kid, becoming a kid helps me to understand things from their perspective and keeps me current with the times.

With young children, while I’m having a conversation with them, I may stoop down low to visually see how things look from their perspective. For me, becoming a kid means that I have to be familiar with “kid things” i.e. Sesame Street. I watched Sesame Street years ago with my children, and so remember all the characters; I think Bert and Ernie were my favorite.

I Enjoy Listening to Hip Hop and Watching Hip Hop Awards

I enjoy listening to hip hop and watching the hip hop awards. I have my favorite hip hop artists, and can be quite opinionated about them.fountain of youth

I Frequently engage in discussions with young people and enjoy listening to their perspectives and learning different view points.

I still turn and jump double dutch and straight rope whenever I can. Naturally the girls are shocked. One year I went on a trip with a 6th grade graduating class of girls. There was a double dutch contest where the girls had to partner up. They were short a girl so I volunteered to play; naturally they all laughed at me until they saw me jump. Well we lost the contest and guess why…we lost because my partner couldn’t jump as long I.
Oh well…what can I say…

fountain of youthYou know what else I enjoy…I enjoy talking to animals, particularly dogs. I am always having conversations with dogs and dogs always come up to me speaking. Oh what about cats–well we have our relationship; in the past I’ve had two, it’s just that I’m partial to dogs. And you know what…babies are always speaking to me also. I believe that. once you tap into that part of yourself it becomes part of your invisible energy field that attracts animals and children.

I enjoy gardening. I like going to the movies. I make it my business to watch American Idol whenever it comes on and have fun pretending to walk the cat walk like America’s Next Top Model. Sometimes while waiting for the train or bus, I may hear a tune in my head and start dancing

I Also Find That I Smile And Laugh a Lot

fountain of youthI find every time I’m out, strangers smile or say hello to me. I also find that I smile and laugh a lot, even if my lower back is really digging in and hurting.

I just thought back a few years ago me in my sixties and he about four or five years older, how we were walking through the park arms wrapped around one another and then when we were about to cross the street to my apartment building we stood right there on the sidewalk and kissed passionately. Talk about being exciting, the whole evening was fun and exciting and I felt like a teenager.

One day I saw this bug crawling around on the side walk. I knew if it stayed on the sidewalk it would get stepped on and squashed, so I scooped it up and put it on a patch of grass near a tree. I’m not going to tell you about the experience I had with a mouse…LOL…unbelievable.

fountain of youthI have told you all of this to give you an idea or sense of what I was talking about when I said the fountain of youth was within you. Its all about allowing yourself the freedom and flexibility to be true to yourself and to be who you really are.

As I mentioned earlier, others have always looked at me as being strange or silly. When I see that happening, I just look at them and laugh what else can I do… I’m happy with me…Do I care how other people perceive me…I Don’t Think So! Oh you know what else I like to do…I like going to the play ground and sliding down the sliding board especially those colorful winding ones…Just thought about that. OK…

…The Food You Eat Provides Your Body The Support it Needs to Drink From That Fountain of Youth

fountain of youthNow we just talked about finding your fountain of youth and how it begins with you looking at the stories you tell yourself about you. But what we haven’t talked about– in fact we haven’t even mentioned, is…how it’s primarily the food you eat that provides your body the support it needs to fully drink from that fountain of youth e.g. remember how I told you that I still jump rope and go on the slide in the playground…Well I attribute my ability to execute these things mainly because of my diet.

I have been a vegetarian for over 40 years and for the past 15 years a vegan raw foodist, (eating a raw plant based diet) and in addition, for 20 years I have been drinking my urine. Yes, you read it right and you can read my article on this website: Urine Therapy Anti Aging Skin Care…

Oh…Just thought of a secret tidbit to tell you about (I’m whispering now)…Sometimes it’s perfectly fine to “act” old when it’s to your advantage. You know… when I’m late paying a bill and I need extended time, I can become REAL elderly REAL fast– to the point that I end the conversation saying “why thank you dearie…” LOL… Just thought I’d give you a little chuckle.

Your Diet Should Include Foods That Vibrate at High Frequencies

If you want to have the vitality and strength to support that fountain inside of you, then you have to be willing to make changes in your diet. You should consider eating a mostly plant based diet– this includes foods that vibrate at high frequencies.

You should begin to eliminate foods that are virtually dead–i.e. canned foods, devitalized processed foods, dairy, eggs, fast foods, all flesh–red meat, fowl, fish, sea food (anything with a face and mother or father) and cut out all the bread, and white rice. As you begin to change your diet to high nutritive and high vitality foods, you will find yourself shedding those extra pounds and shedding a lot of those ailments.

fountain of youthI know you’re asking what is she talking about “foods that vibrate at high frequencies”…I’m talking about including more raw fruits, leafy greens and vegetables in your diet–A nice big salad AT LEAST once a day– not just a lettuce and tomato salad. Add all sorts of greens and raw vegetables to your salad i.e. kale, spinach, broccoli.

fountain of youth)Start drinking lots of water, fresh fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies. Feel free to make your salad dressing using olive and flax seed oils. Consider sea vegetables– high in minerals e.g. dulse, kelp, nori (instead of a sushi nori roll, make a vegetable nori roll).

You Should Begin to Make These Changes Gradually

Do these changes gradually, just start by eliminating red meat, all seafood e.g. shrimp, clams, crabs, fast food and all the canned processed and devitalized food. Consider purchasing organic produce (free of harmful pesticides and waxes) and getting your chicken and fish from health food stores or sources that produce free range chickens and unpolluted fish.

fountain of youthOK…you’re left with eating your chicken and fish. Steam, broil, bake, or sauté your food. Vegetables should be crunchy and maintain their bright color. Should you decide to become a vegetarian suggest you read the article on this website, Raw Vegan Diet…Short Guide and Over View … Though the article talks about changing to a raw vegan diet it can be used as a guide to become a vegetarian (eating cooked food) as the process is the same.

Oh before I forget– Suggest you get rid of your microwave ovens, aluminum cookware and plastic drinking water bottles as they are all hazardous to your health. Best to replace aluminum cook ware with stainless steel, glass, ceramic covered cast iron or cast iron and do your cooking on a stove. Get a water filter and carry a stainless steel water bottle. Because of time and space constraints, I am not providing a lot of details so it’s important for you to DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!

Watch Your Body Become More Healthy, Youthful, and Mentally Sharp… When You Change Your Mind-Set and Consume a Diet That Includes at Least 60% Raw Plant-Based Foods– You Will Discover The Fountain of Youth!

Imagine yourself having become fearless and having allowed your inner child to be free. You are eating wholesome foods, people you know are coming up to you telling you how great you look and not being able to quite figure out what’s different about you.

If you think about it…it doesn’t really matter what they can or can’t figure out. YOU know what is different. But you also know…that when they ask you what you have done with yourself, you can look them straight in the eye and reply…I HAVE FOUND THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH! 🙂

Years ago I used to be a big flirt. For me it was fun and a way to boost my ego and the ego of the guys I flirted with. Today I am still a flirt, oh not as much as in my younger day, but just like exercising, I still like to keep my self in form.

Usually when I want to make sure I haven’t lost my touch, I wait until I have a function to go to where I know there will be lots of people. I get ‘dressed to the nines’– really decked out. I enter the function as though I’m a celebrity or a very important person, this usually attracts men and a few women coming over to speak to me. I also attract photographers asking to take my picture while others rush to have a photo taken with me also. I generally enjoy myself and leave the function feeling like YES I’VE STILL GOT IT!

Naturally you don’t have to do what I do, but the point is, you want to have a mindset of feeling attractive, and being a sensual loving woman and no matter how old, you are feeling comfortable with your sexuality.

Eliminate the ‘junk foods’ and add lots of raw fruits, vegetable and leafy greens to your diet. Salads with lots of raw veggies and shredded leafy greens e.g. kale are great. Vipassana Meditation…Wow…What An Experience!

wen i growupAt the end of March of this year, I visited Denver, Colorado to see my Daughter, and while I was there I went to Elbert, about 7000 feet up in the mountains to do a 10 day Vipassana meditation course at the Vipassana Center.

Just to give you a feeling tone of what I experienced on this spiritual retreat, this is a silent meditation– There is ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING for 10 days, no cell phones, no books or other reading material, and no taking notes, so leave your pens and pencils behind.  There are  2 meals served daily– breakfast at 6:30 am and lunch at 11 am. wen i growupBedtime 9 pm with lights out by 10 and up at 4 am with sittings for meditation scheduled eight times throughout the day.

I tell you the experience was like having a baby! It was REALLY grueling, couldn’t wait to leave, but I was sooooo happy and grateful for the experience and really looked forward  to doing it again.

Vipassana Meditation Is An Ancient Simple Meditation Technique

wen i growupWell… Vipassana meditation is an ancient non-sectarian simple meditation technique, that dates back to India. It was rediscovered by Gotama the Buddha, 2500 years ago, and is the essence or core of what the Buddha practiced and taught.

Over time, following the death of the Enlightened One, the science of Vipassana  became  lost in India for hundreds of centuries.

However, in Burma, Vipassana continued to remain alive, and with the purity of its teaching in tact. For over two thousand years the practice and teaching of Vipassana meditation was transmitted from generation to generation by a small lineage of teachers and practitioners in Burma.

And Now…Fast Forward To Today…

Now…To fast forward to today, S.N. Goenka a student of the renowned Burmese Vipassana teacher, Sayagyi U Ba Khin was given the authority by U Ba Khin prior to his transition in 1971 to teach Vipassana. In 1969, S.N. Goenka started teaching in India. Ten years later he started setting up and conducting 10 day Vipassana courses around the world.

Today there are over 1000 assistant teachers trained by S.N. Goenka, and well over a 100 centers, world wide, including right here in the United States, where the first North American center was established in 1982 at Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.
